Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus as well-known bacteria are associated with numerous infectious diseases. The habitats of Staphylococcus aureus exist in hospitals, homes, parks, schools etc. Some traditional antibiotics cannot eradicate Staphylococcus aureus since many antibiotic-resistant genes were transferred in bacteria. Thus, many researchers contribute their efforts to eliminate drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. This review illustrates features of Staphylococcus aureus and the main threat derived from the drug-resistant strains, such as methicillin- and vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The review also highlights the plight in controlling drug resistance caused by Staphylococcus aureus.
