Abstract

A variation of the brachial artery was discovered during routine dissection at Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Pimpri, Pune, India. It was labeled as superficial brachial artery because it arose from the third part of the axillary artery and was superficial to the nerves and vessels of the axilla. This superficial brachial artery split into the Radial and Ulnar arteries. A common trunk for the subscapular and anterior circumflex scapular arteries was also seen emerging from the axillary artery. Its embryological basis is also discussed along with details of observations.
