A CHECKLIST OF MOLLUSCAN FAUNA OF HATTIKUNI RESERVOIR, YADGIR DISTRICT, KARNATAKA, INDIA

The present study provides the checklist of Molluscans found in Hattikuni reservoir, Yadgir District of Karnataka. The study was undertaken for a period of two years from February 2014 to January 2016. The collection of molluscan fauna was made in all the three seasons by repeated visit to the site. Eleven species of molluscans were collected and identified from the reservoir of which nine are Gastropods and two belongs to Bivalves. Among the Gastropods, Melania (Palitia scabra), M. scabra, M. scabra var elegans, M. tuberculata, Faunus ater, Lymnaea luteola, L. acuminate, Planorbis exustus, Bellamya bengalensis and two species belongs to Bivalves are Parreysia corrugate and Lamellidens corrianus were found in the reservoir, interestingly these two species of Bivalve are dominant among other Molluscans.
