Abstract

Exact data figures are used for having the right method for the execution of SQL queries. Yet you can get the
badly performing question where the numbers do not correctly represent the actual table information. Stats are
important information used by the Database Optimizer SQL Server that influences the chosen database
execution schedule. The optimizer gets its awareness of the data, its distribution and, from statistics available,
the number of rows of a specific question that return. Depending on this information, it selects the optimal
access route, whether to search a table or to try an index, using a nestled loop link or a hash link, etc.
