Introduction: Cancer is a major problem around the world. Now a day’s cervical cancer becomes the most common cause of cancer in women. The early identification and affordable drugs will help to eliminate the seriousness of cancer.
Methods: The in vitro cytotoxicity analysis of chloroform extract of Ctenolepsis cerasiformis was undertaken by the method of MTT assay and the apoptotic activity of the chloroform extract of Ctenolepsis cerasiformis was performed by the flow cytometry analysis.
Results: The chloroform extract of Ctenolepsis cerasiformis shown important antiproliferative action on human cervical cancer cells as compared to the normal Vero cell lines.
Discussion: There is a need to find out the less toxic or no toxic novel anti-proliferative agent from the medicinal plant sources is paramount importance.
Conclusion: Hence, the in vitro cytotoxicity and the apoptotic effects of the chloroform extract of Ctenolepsis cerasiformis on human cervical cancer cell lines such as HeLa cell lines were undertaken.
